SPECIAL FICTION ISSUE

mophile

Three short stories taken from two European homophile magazines make up the body of this special issue. Thus as we complete the sixth year of Mattachine REVIEW we give subscribers an edition similar to the Christmas 1955 issue of stories and special articles.

THE GLASS HOUSE by David St. Cyr appeared recently in the Danish magazine, EOS, published in Copenhagen. Because of certain restrictions, however, this publication has been advised that it cannot be mailed to individuals in the U. S., and therefore it does not accept subscriptions from this country.

WHITE SHORTS and WAR IS NOT A GAME FOR CHILDREN are both reprinted from DER KREIS (The Circle), published in Zurich, Switzerland. On occasions in the past when stories have been reprinted from this senior homophile magazine, readers have responded with highly favorable comment. Two years ago, a book of four short stories, Four from the Circle (San Francisco, 1958: Pan-Graphic Press, 1.75) was presented initially as a circulapremium for REVIEW subscribers, and demand for this little volume is still continuing.

American readers can subscribe to Der Kreis. Details are found on page

31.

The cover drawing on this issue was submitted by an American reader of the REVIEW, but the name of the artist has been lost. If he sees this, will he notify us so that credit can be given in a future issue?

The editorial item beginning on page 26 is reprinted from the British journal, THE MEDICAL PRESS. It is a serious criticism of the medical profession from within itself as regards its own attitude toward homosexuality, and it represents forward thinking in our opinion.
